Registering a Trademark in the U.S:
Federal trademark registration offers a number of benefits to the trademark owner:
- the right to use the mark nationwide, except in geographical areas where it is already used by others,
- the right to bring an infringement lawsuit in federal court to recover damages and other remedies,
- the mark becoming "incontestable" after five years.
